Celebrating International Women’s Day 2018

The Women’s Center (TWC) of the American University of Afghanistan in honor of international women’s day organized an event celebrating the achievement of women in entire AUAF community. The celebration began with opening remarks by Dr. Zaher Wahab Director of Center of Teaching and Learning, Nadia Behboodi Executive Director of The Women’s Center and Dr. Julie Holland registrar of AUAF.

The Women’s Center officially launched the “Seeds of Change” network last year after year of working. This network is composed of professional women and men standing for women’s leadership at all levels. This year TWC introduced the “Seeds of Change” award to honor extra ordinary work of female faculty, staff, students and business women.

  8. Marzia Jawadi (Best Female Business Person)
  9. Malika Qani (Best Female Business Person)
  10. Fereshta Hussaini (Best PDCTP Student 7th Cycle)
  11. Award of Appreciation to The Women’s Center

The Event followed by a debate by AUAF’s Debate club on women’s participation in the peace process. TWC took the advantage of this opportunity to graduate 61 students of its business development and management Professional Development Certification training program. Celebrating International Women’s Day 2017

On March 8th, 2017, The Women's Center celebrated the international women’s day at Intercontinental Hotel-Kabul, Afghanistan. It was a great opportunity for AUAF/TWC to bring together influential women and men from various public and private sectors to celebrate and promote the role of women in Afghanistan. During the event, invaluable speeches were delivered by:

  • Dr. Sharif Faiz, AUAF founder
  • Ms. Nadia Behboodi, TWC Executive Director
  • Nabila Mosleh, Deputy Minister of MoWA
  • Aisha Aziz, Prominent Businesswomen and alumni of TWC-PDCTP and   Goldman Sachs 10K women program
  • Sayed Zaman Hashemi, presenting the findings of his research on women and sustainable development

As a part of the event, TWC has also invited around 20 businesswomen to conduct an exhibition of their products. The businesswomen appreciated the opportunity to sell their products and build their network with participants from public and private sectors.
